KCAL-9 SHOWS P.A. BOOTCAMP CLICK HERE
I fully support P.A. Bootcamp’s program and the staff involved.
The job of P.A. is not an entry level job in the Movie/TV/Commercial production business.
When we hire P.A’s with no experience we usually have to hire additional
experienced P.A’s to cover them.
I applaud P.A. Boot Camp for developing a program that works. In one weekend this program actually makes first time P.A.’s useful, gives them the knowledge and tools to be able to do the job from the first day on set; from
usage and etiquette of walkies to the production paperwork to the rhythms of the production day and everything in between.
Keep up the good work! -Guy Riedel Exec. Producer

I would like to personally thank everyone from PA Bootcamp, and everyone at Quixote Studios.
The knowledge I gained was worth ten times what I paid.

You answered and SO many questions that I have had for the longest time, and put a LOT of my worries and concerns to rest (and maybe added a few worries about the industry too, but in a good way). I loved every minute of my weekend.
I never wanted to get into this industry to be “discovered” or to “make it big”, I just want to be a small piece of the giant film making puzzle, and Im so glad that there are people out there who understand this and give their time to others to give them the knowledge and confidence to jump into the industry.
Thanks again for everything, Ill never forget it. -Chris Cullmann

PA Bootcamp is extremely informative and helpful. I’ve done weeks of research online trying to prepare myself and learn what a PA does so that I could be successful as a PA.  There is NOTHING online that will prepare you for what its really like to be a PA. I learned more in the two days at the Bootcamp then in all the hours of research I did.  Tricks of the trade, what not to do, radio etiquette; things that you CAN NOT find online.  I recommend PA Bootcamp to anyone looking to become a PA in the film industry.

Thank you so much for your incredible instruction this weekend. Alec shared with me the materials that he received in class. Your paperwork rocked, and he learned tons about procedure, etiquette, nomenclature and job descriptions.
I quizzed him extensively, and you all sure did your job.
Leigh- I can’t thank you enough Alec said you worked with him, so I was especially happy with that since we go back a long way. Thanks again everybody. I only wish they had a program like this for the camera department!
All the best, Alan Caso (D.P.)

I recently used two P.A. Bootcamp “grads” on a indie feature I directed. We threw a lot of tasks at them – much more, in fact, than they would be doing on a studio project – from helping to rig lighting to filling in for an absent
script supervisor.  The “bootcampers” handled the challenges with ease and wound up being an invaluable asset to our tiny crew. -Michael Judd

P.A.T.S. Staff | Ken Chaplin
Founder – Production Assistant Training Seminar

We fully endorse PA Bootcamp, their program, and their staff. Their response to recent blog posts are absolutely correct. The Bootcamp, like our program, address’s duties, protocol, etiquette, and much more that ISN’T apparent within your first day (s) on a film set as a PA. Both companies have a purpose of to ensure an individual has the skills and knowledge to GET HIRED BACK. To be UNFORGETTABLE. As we all know, there are 100′s of people wishing to get into the industry. Your chance shouldn’t be risked. The cost for either program is nominal compared to the value you’ll bring to a show and a potential career in the business.

I had so much fun at bootcamp this past weekend.  I had no idea I would learn so much!  I was delightfully surprised that we all received such one-on-one attention and also at the hands-on experiences prepared for us. Y’all put us through our paces and kicked our butts!  I am so glad I signed on for this training, it was super-informative and it was extremely helpful to my career plans for the future. Thank you so much for all of your help and for your patience and for sharing your truth and knowledge with this greenie.

During a 2 day intensive, the P.A. Bootcamp team handled a group of 65 would-be production assistants covering the real life experience of what a fledgling can expect. With Definitions, Terms, Practical Radio practice, in class participation, a non stop array of visual information, expectations and a large dose of reality, the team set about separating the office pa’s from the set pa’s and in the process sifted out those who were never going to survive the rigors of long hours and commitment to the work of filmmakers and the various assistants who make it all go smoothly. It is a very thorough and complete workshop.

The SC Film Commission and the University of South Carolina sponsored the workshop and felt it was one of the most valuable we had seen at the university.

I went through PA bootcamp for my show (The Muppets).  I really learned a lot, especially through the walkie and call sheet exercises.  While I was green (to Set PAing), I stepped on the set very confident in my abilities, and it showed through my work ethic. I’ve gotten numerous compliments from each of my AD’s (1st Josh King, 2nd Brian Relyea, 2nd 2nd Ken Wu, Key Set Randin Brown, and DGA Trainee Redelia Shaw. I’ve become the go to PA. The 2nd 2nd likes to keep me by his side/close to him on set because he knows that he can trust me to get the task done. Pretty cool. -Ray G.
